Easy back to school hairstyles

The summer holidays have arrived but for a lot of parents and children, that means preparing for the next school year. Whilst parents are busy ordering new uniforms, many youngsters are wondering what sort of hairstyles they can bring to the new term and what will the latest trends be, as well as making sure they are practical and don’t break the school’s rules. We decided to offer a snapshot of some fresh ideas for styles you will be able to wear for school in September to impress your classmates.

Our ‘pick of the bunch’ - Bubble braids

This is a really funky and trendy look which works equally well for short hair as it does for longer hair. It is advisable to run a little coconut oil through your hair before you start.

  • Part your hair down the middle then, take a comb and take a small section of your hair at the front and create a little ponytail with it, using an elastic to hold. Clip it to the side once done.
  • Next, take another section behind and add the first little pony to it, securing it again with an elastic and clipping it to the side.
Continue along adding the ponytails already collected to the next section song before fastening.
  • Once completed, create the bubble effect by simply pulling and spreading the hair in each section between the elastics, using your thumbs to push the hair up to create the bubble effect. Use coconut oil, hairspray and grips to deal with any bits of hair that stick out.

Other fresh styles for school

Twin buns

This style requires medium length or long hair. Separate your hair into high or low pigtails then coil into two equidistant buns. This is a really cheeky look for school and can be nicely accentuated with side bangs.

Time saving top knot

Messy buns and top knots will never go out of vogue, mainly because they tick so many boxes. They look great, take no time at all to create, mask greasy hair and can be re-done throughout the day with ease. Simply pull your hair together into a high pony then twist it and coil it around itself, leaving a couple of inches untwisted, then fix in place with an elastic, with the ends splayed outwards.

Twisty bun

A modern take on a firm favourite, this is a really fresh style to start the autumn term with. Ideal for medium length hair, this style is created by splitting your hair into two even pigtails, twisting both sides and then bringing them together into the middle and arranging into a contemporary looking bun.

Beach waves

With summer hols still being a recent memory, beachy styles are always popular in September to accompany what's left of your tan. Run some styling mousse through your hair and then twist it all the way from the top down to the bottom. Use your hairdryer to blow dry the twisted hair then let it go to reveal perfect tousled waves.

Down with back twist

This is such an easy style to achieve and can be used on most lengths of hair, curly or short. Simply take a small section of hair from around the temple on either side and pull them towards the back until they meet in the middle, twisting each section of hair and then fastening them into place.
