Essentials For A Regular Weekly Beauty Routine

Everyone needs a day to themselves each week to undertake a little 'tlc (tender loving care)' and look after themselves, and as an important part of a regular beauty routine on an ongoing basis. Here are just a few items you should include in your weekly 'time for you'.  We’ve suggested a few, very simple ideas on how you can pamper yourself.

Enjoy a Luxury bath soak

Taking a long soak in the bath is a luxury as old as the hills. Old fashioned it may be, but the relaxation benefits have stood the test of time. To create the perfect atmosphere at home, begin by removing any clutter you have in your bathroom that could affect the ambience. Add a bit of nature with a plant or freshly cut flower on the windowsill. Then, make sure you achieve the right water temperature, not too hot, not too cold, and add in your bath salts or essential oils.

Relax with Candles

Candles next to the bath are naturally an option too, but make sure if they’re scented, that you’re not mixing the scents with your essential oils and creating too many odours in the room. Place your bath pillow into position if you have one (if not, you can use a rolled-up towel to support your neck as you relax). As optional extras, you may want to bring in a book to read or wear a face mask while you’re bathing. After your bath, replenish your skin with a moisturiser, concentrating on the usual dry areas on your knees and elbows.

Give your hair a treat

One part of our body that is often and easily neglected is our hair. When you’re taking some you time, make sure to squeeze in some hair time too. A relaxing scalp massage is a good start. Begin by getting comfortable in a quiet space. Then, use the pads of your fingertips to create slow circular motions across your scalp, including your temples, behind your ears and at the base of your neck. Apply firm but gentle pressure as you move your fingers.

If you really want to treat your hair, invest in a hair mask. There’s a hair mask for almost everything, whether you want to detoxify, moisturise or treat coloured hair, you can take your pick. The overall aim is to get your hair looking healthier, shinier and smoother, and while you’re waiting for the mask to take effect, you can slot in 10 or fifteen minutes for relaxing to boot.

Make time for a manicure

As well as hair, our hands are frequently left uncared for too. It’s easy to think of our hands as nothing more than a practical appendage for our everyday tasks, so it’s time to give them a little attention. A hand massage is not only relaxing but with the use of an effective oil or hand cream, you are hydrating and caring for them too. Start by relaxing your hand and slowly massage each finger at a time, moving on to both sides of your hand and in between each finger. Bring your finger nails into the process too by applying cuticle oil at the base of your nails.

A final tip

Making time for you is a perfect excuse to indulge yourself in all those little personal care and beauty ideas you’ve wanted to try but have not had time to. Whether it’s an indulgent bath, a new hair mask or a deluxe pedicure or manicure, the trick is to make sure you put that ‘you time’ on your agenda.
