How To Stop Hair Fall And Tips To Control With Natural Home Remedies

Hair loss, or androgenic alopecia, is a huge concern for many women, especially as they grow older, so we wanted to share our knowledge about the steps that can be taken affordably, easily and naturally to help to prevent, delay and counter the signs of thinning hair.

Different stages of female baldness

There are generally three stages to hair loss for women. The earlier you take preventative action, the better results you will have, but that isn’t to say that you can’t improve on any of the stages.

  • Stage 1 - When a small amount of thinning starts to become evident around the parting.
  • Stage 2: The parting begins to widen and thinning around it increases.
  • Stage 3: Thinning throughout, with the scalp obviously exposed at the top.

What can you do about hair loss?

There are medications available for more extreme cases, but in the first instance, many people want to know what they can do to slow the process down, and even encourage fresh growth wherever possible, using natural methods. It is important to be realistic about what you can achieve, and regaining the dense locks of your youth is unlikely, but you can certainly make improvements by following some well documented advice, so here goes…

Diet

Make sure you include plenty of protein in your diet. Hair is protein-based, and therefore ensuring you have enough of it in your diet, especially eggs, is really important for encouraging hair growth. Oily fish, spinach, lean red meat and nuts are all high protein foods.

Omega supplements/Fish oils

If you’re not keen on oily fish, consider investing in some supplements that are high in fish oils or other sources of Omega fatty acids. They help cells to function correctly and boost your immunity too.

Hydration

A consistent message, but the consumption of a couple of litres of water a day does wonders for your hair, and your nails and skin. Dry skin on your scalp is a common prerequisite for hair loss.

Massage

Used in conjunction with hair oils, a good massage stimulates the scalp, which can in turn improve hair thickness. Dermal Papilla cells, located in the base of the follicle, have an important role in hair growth, and they really benefit from a regular massage, which is also known to improve blood flow to the scalp. Using your fingertips (never your fingernails), work your way across your scalp in small circles, applying light to medium pressure as you go.

Natural remedies for hair loss

Aloe vera

Aloe Vera is renowned for its skin soothing qualities, and the scalp is no exception. It also conditions the hair, reduces flakiness and unblocks hair follicles that may be plugged with excess oil. For the best results, apply pure aloe vera gel to your scalp and hair a few times per week. You can also use shampoo and conditioner that contains aloe vera.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil contains lauric acid which penetrates and lubricates the hair shaft and combats the loss of protein from hair. It can be left overnight if your hair is really dry. Excellent for those massages, coconut oil enriches the scalp’s microbiome, making for a healthier scalp and follicles.

Onion Juice

The benefits of onion juice are well known for the promotion of hair growth and some success in treating alopecia areata, an autoimmune condition which causes hair loss. It is also believed to improve circulation. To administer, blend 3-4 brown onions and then strain out the juice. Apply the juice directly to the scalp and leave for a minimum of 15 minutes. Shampoo as normal afterwards.

Geranium oil

Geranium oil can help to strengthen, hydrate, and restore your hair. Considered to promote hair growth and boost circulation, take three drops of geranium essential oil and mix it with eight drops of a carrier oil, then apply it directly to your hair and scalp or, alternatively, add a few drops to your shampoo and conditioner.
